A new Managing Committee of METREX was confirmed at the General Assembly in Braga on 25 October 2023.
The METREX Managing Committee (MC) oversees the strategic direction of the organisation and ensures that day-to-day obligations are met by the Secretariat. The MC is appointed every two years by the network’s members to ensure that their best interests are represented.
Henk Bouwman, Secretary General of METREX, said: “Last week, at our METREX Autumn Conference in Braga, our Members confirmed the election of our new Managing Committee. Again we are delighted to have a team from all over Europe, representing the various Metropolitan Regions and Areas and their cultures, challenges and achievements. It is an ambitious team to make the points from our METREX Manifesto for a Metropolitan Europe reality.”

Over the past two years, there has been a concerted effort from the MC to raise the profile of METREX and the metropolitan dimension as a source of solutions for Europe’s big challenges. The coming new term will seek to build on this work.
