METREX Vice President, Gianina Panatau, to attend the National Conference of Regions in the United States.
At the invitation of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regional Councils from the United States, Gianina Panatau, METREX Vice-President, will participate in the association’s ‘National Conference of Regions’ event, which explores pressing priorities facing cities, and regions. The conference will be held in Washington, DC from February 10-14, 2024.
METREX Vice-President will also attend additional meetings before and after the conference, to meet with local practitioners and other experts, including the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (more information at mwcog.org).
The conference will be a welcomed context to share with counterparts in the United States about METREX initiatives and best practices. At the same time, it will be a valuable opportunity to gain insights from the federal government and a clear understanding of policy changes, regulatory updates, and the overarching vision driving governmental initiatives.
Session topics will include the state of America’s workforce, renewable energy, affordable and accessible housing, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, pending Supreme Court cases impacting local governments, climate mitigation, transportation funding, and a roundtable with experts from United States federal agencies.
