Earlier this month, Città Metropolitana di Torino welcomed partners of the MECOG-CE Interreg Central Europe program to Canavese, a territory that spans one-third of the metropolitan area.
In this area, a Food District agreement between public and private entities was signed (including municipalities, water management consortium and agri-cooperatives, professional agricultural organisations, agro-industrial enterprises, Chamber of Commerce and research institutions, among others) with the aim to enhance and value the local agri-food production system.
The study visit offered members of the Food Districts Study Cluster first-hand insights and knowledge into what establishing a Food District entails – serving as a capacity-building opportunity for the participants, and improving their understanding of the tools and practices with an in-person exchange of experiences. The day concluded with a tour of Molino Peila, a modern, yet 100-year-old family-run, mill infrastructure.
