A dedicated session for this group at the METREX Autumn Conference in Bucharest (23-25 October)
The main objective of this group will be to deepen the knowledge around the territorial diversity and variety of governance systems offered by the METREX membership.
Connecting and visualizing existing information to form a common knowledge base for Members will allow for an increased capacity to analyse the present conditions and critically contribute to the WHAT (New demands in Spatial Planning), HOW (are governance and strategies in place enough to cope with the future challenges?), WHY (visioning a metropolitan future) METREX program of activities aimed at the implementation of the Metropolitan Manifesto launched last November 2023 at the European Parliament.
Moreover, the presence of metropolitan regions and areas which have been already testing and implementing this type of activity on their own territories will provide the group with specific skills and technical know-how.
Finally, the Mapping METREX activities fit perfectly well in the agreed workflow, as discussed at the METREX Spring Conference in Brussels 16 May, under the title ‘Are we fit for the Future’, where we look into the way we are organised ourselves and see if improvements can be made, while learning from our best examples.
This new program is coordinated and led by the Province of South Holland.
