14–16 May 2014 hosted by the Metropolregion of Central Germany and held in the Neues Rathaus in Leipzig.
Theme – Cooperation between Metropolitan regions and the economic sector.
The Central Germany day focused on the Theme with exemplar presentations from Central Germany, Rhine- Neckar, Nuremberg and Amsterdam. An orientation visit included changing landscapes after brown coal mining (Leipzig New Lakeland) and the BMW plant.
Theme – Territorial Scenarios and Visions for Europe and Planning for sustainability in the time of financial crisis.
The METREX day opened with a presentation on the ESPON Territorial Vision for Europe towards 2050. It included an address on the Metropolitan Dimension in the USA and a Keynote Address on the meaning of a green economy.
The Conference concluded with an innovative World Café for the informal exchange of views between colleagues on current affairs.
