18–20 September 2013, hosted by the City of Oslo and Akershus County Council and held at the Gamle Logen (The Old Lodge).
Themes – Day 1 – Regional planning goals, policy and reality and Day 2 – Sustainability.
Within the theme for Day 1, the Conference opened with a presentation of the EU 2020 goals and continued with a national perspective on Oslo and Akershus, a presentation on regional planning cooperation in Oslo/ Akershus and a Forum for comments by three European municipalities.
Within the theme for Day 2, the Conference continued with presentations on aspects of sustainability, observations on the European metropolis and the development of towns at a secondary level. On the theme of Future Directions ESPON presented the state of play in the understanding of challenges and solutions in European city regions.
