26–29 May 2010, hosted jointly by Vilnius City Municipal Council and Riga City Council.
The theme was – The Baltic Strategy – the view from Vilnius and Riga.
This Conference was unique in being held in two cities, Vilnius and Riga. Delegates travelled in the evening, by coach, with a picnic. Presentations in both cities included the Baltic Spatial Strategy, in Vilnius, and the Baltic Sea Region Strategy, in Riga. “Since the EU enlargement of 2004, challenges facing the Region have increased. Escalating environmental threats, gaps in economic development and poor transport accessibility are issues, which need to be tackled urgently. Many of these problems can only be addressed through better coordination and joint action.” The presentations from both cities reflected these issues.
